softly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow you\u2019re remembering what business we\u2019re in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Arthur Voss was not necessarily one man anymore.<\/p>\n<p>It was an identity.<\/p>\n<p>A role.<\/p>\n<p>A succession.<\/p>\n<p>I felt cold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow many?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vale answered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThree that I know of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The man in custody was one.<\/p>\n<p>The man directing Vale might be another.<\/p>\n<p>And somewhere, perhaps, the original.<\/p>\n<p>Vale said, \u201cBring the revocation certificate to Daniel\u2019s recovery facility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen Rebecca says the phrase for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel stepped toward the phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf she does, what happens?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vale answered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJonathan\u2019s original protocol wakes up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery distributed authority you created becomes secondary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My blood went cold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd primary control?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vale paused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReturns to the oldest surviving continuity administrator.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Caroline whispered the answer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArthur.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vale said, \u201cExactly.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a
