answered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst Midwestern.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin checked the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBranches aren\u2019t open yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ruth shook her head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrivate vault clients have early access.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dad could already be moving.<\/p>\n<p>The investigator\u2019s phone rang before she finished dispatching units.<\/p>\n<p>She answered.<\/p>\n<p>Her expression toward box 42.<\/p>\n<p>But the investigator kept listening.<\/p>\n<p>Her face changed again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat else?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She ended the call.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecurity footage shows Richard entering the bank.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s good,\u201d I said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wasn\u2019t alone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My stomach tightened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho was with him?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She turned the tablet.<\/p>\n<p>The image showed Dad crossing the bank lobby beside an older woman.<\/p>\n<p>Scarred face.<\/p>\n<p>Silver hair.<\/p>\n<p>Straight-backed even at seventy-plus.<\/p>\n<p>Grandma.<\/p>\n<p>Alive.<\/p>\n<p>Dad\u2019s hand was wrapped tightly around her arm.<\/p>\n<p>And in his other hand was a
