Thomas and I wanted out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo you stole?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe took what we believed we were owed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dad could have said the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>The family resemblance was not biological.<\/p>\n<p>It was moral.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you help Richard?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you know he attacked Eleanor?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Silence.<\/p>\n<p>That was answer enough.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel whispered, \u201cMom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patricia\u2019s voice weakened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t know until later.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid you help cover it up?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I felt cold.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat about Thomas?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI protected him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen why did he stay hidden for thirty-six years?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause Thomas has his own reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat reasons?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patricia took a breath.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wasn\u2019t just investigating Richard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen what?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was stealing too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thomas\u2019s email had portrayed himself as whistleblower and victim.<\/p>\n<p>Patricia painted him as another thief.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe both could be true.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatricia,\u201d the investigator said, finally identifying herself, \u201cwe need your location.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patricia laughed softly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour cooperation can matter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou think this is about cooperation?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is it about?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSurvival.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The line crackled.<\/p>\n<p>Then Patricia said something directly to me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClaire, if you have Samuel\u2019s locker, you need to destroy the cassette.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause if that recording is played, someone will die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A pause.<\/p>\n<p>Then a sound in the background.<\/p>\n<p>A man shouting.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas.<\/p>\n<p>Patricia gasped.<\/p>\n<p>The phone fell or struck something.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel shouted, \u201cMom?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We heard movement.<\/p>\n<p>A door.<\/p>\n<p>Then Thomas\u2019s voice, distant but clear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did you tell them?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Patricia shouted back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A crash.<\/p>\n<p>Then the call ended.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel stared at the dead phone.<\/p>\n<p>The investigator was already moving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got a partial location.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She looked at the trace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOutside Milwaukee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel grabbed his coat.<\/p>\n<p>This time nobody tried to stop him.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/feeleverystory.online\/?p=14239\">Click here to continue reading: PART 12: We Found Patricia and Thomas Before Dawn, but Eleanor\u2019s Recording Exposed the Secret That Made Every Harrington Lie Possible<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nobody moved for several seconds after we saw the photograph.
