Nolan fled through the woods.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I almost laughed.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently running into snowy woods had become the official strategy of corrupt men.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did Robert say?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid he have Calvin\u2019s phone?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel nodded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So Chloe had been right.<\/p>\n<p>The fake deputy was connected to Robert.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe Robert himself had taken it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s on the phone?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLocked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan you open it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEventually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWonderful word.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel ignored that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was something else at the cabin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhotographs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow recent?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne was taken yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My house.<\/p>\n<p>My truck.<\/p>\n<p>My movements.<\/p>\n<p>Even during the storm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho took them?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnknown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then Daniel handed me a printed image.<\/p>\n<p>My red plow truck outside Miller\u2019s Market.<\/p>\n<p>Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n<p>Before Tyler called.<\/p>\n<p>Before I knew anything was wrong.<\/p>\n<p>The photograph had been taken from across the parking lot.<\/p>\n<p>On the back, someone had written:<\/p>\n<p>HB alone.
