She&#39;s my friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I closed my eyes.<\/p>\n<p>Gregory asked about my memory.<\/p>\n<p>Rosalind answered:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBetter than yours if you keep asking questions I&#39;ve already answered.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even Priya smiled.<\/p>\n<p>Then Gregory asked whether I resisted help.<\/p>\n<p>Rosalind said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe resists people deciding what she needs before asking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My throat tightened.<\/p>\n<p>Again, exactly true.<\/p>\n<p>Then he asked whether I had repeated stories, forgotten appointments, misplaced medication.<\/p>\n<p>Rosalind said no to each.<\/p>\n<p>Finally Gregory said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo no cognitive concerns?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rosalind answered clearly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There it was.<\/p>\n<p>Before Harbor Continuity wrote:<\/p>\n<p>Source says begin with memory.<\/p>\n<p>The source had said the opposite.<\/p>\n<p>Someone deliberately reversed her statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho wrote the intake page?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p>Priya already knew.<\/p>\n<p>The handwriting matched Laura&#39;s.<\/p>\n<p>Bridget&#39;s sister.<\/p>\n<p>The first documented lie about my memory had not come from Bridget.<\/p>\n<p>It had come from Laura.<\/p>\n<p>And the earliest source Laura cited to justify it had explicitly contradicted her.<\/p>\n<p>Curtis sat very still.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo Laura started the cognitive angle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes,\u201d Priya said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore Bridget?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to establish what Bridget knew when.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The recording continued.<\/p>\n<p>At the end, after Rosalind disconnected, Laura and Gregory remained on the call for thirty seconds.<\/p>\n<p>They apparently did not realize the conference system was still recording.<\/p>\n<p>Laura said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe&#39;ll be a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gregory replied:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe friend?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen keep her outside the planning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd Eleanor?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gregory answered:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the financial need is strong enough, memory gives us the cleanest route.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The financial need.<\/p>\n<p>Bridget&#39;s debt.<\/p>\n<p>Laura&#39;s repayment.<\/p>\n<p>My house.<\/p>\n<p>The strategy was already forming.<\/p>\n<p>Then Laura said something that made Curtis stand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBridget will cooperate if I tell her this is the only way to keep Curtis from finding out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My son&#39;s face went blank.<\/p>\n<p>The secret gambling debt was not simply the motive.<\/p>\n<p>It was leverage.<\/p>\n<p>Laura had used Bridget&#39;s terror of losing her marriage to push her deeper into the plan.<\/p>\n<p>That did not make Bridget innocent.<\/p>\n<p>But it explained the first hook.<\/p>\n<p>Priya stopped the recording.<\/p>\n<p>Curtis whispered, \u201cShe blackmailed her own sister.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Not exactly.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe.<\/p>\n<p>We needed evidence.<\/p>\n<p>But the meaning was clear enough.<\/p>\n<p>Laura had not merely referred Bridget to a service.<\/p>\n<p>She had told her the scheme was the price of keeping her secret.<\/p>\n<p>I looked at Rosalind.<\/p>\n<p>She looked devastated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI gave Laura Martin&#39;s name.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI took the call with Gregory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI helped them find the road.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPart of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She nodded.<\/p>\n<p>No argument.<\/p>\n<p>I reached across the table.<\/p>\n<p>Not forgiveness.<\/p>\n<p>Not yet.<\/p>\n<p>But I placed my hand over hers.<\/p>\n<p>She gripped it.<\/p>\n<p>Then Priya&#39;s phone rang.<\/p>\n<p>Laura Shaw\u2014Bridget&#39;s sister, not Linda Shaw from Margaret&#39;s case\u2014had retained criminal counsel.<\/p>\n<p>That alone meant little.<\/p>\n<p>People have a right to counsel.<\/p>\n<p>Then Priya heard the rest.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators had obtained Harbor Continuity billing records.<\/p>\n<p>Laura had received a success-based referral payment tied to my property.<\/p>\n<p>Not merely repayment of Bridget&#39;s loan.<\/p>\n<p>A commission.<\/p>\n<p>Three percent of Northbridge&#39;s expected net fee.<\/p>\n<p>If my house had sold, Laura would have been paid tens of thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n<p>My best friend&#39;s careless information had opened one door.<\/p>\n<p>But Bridget&#39;s own sister had been waiting on the other side, already calculating what my home was worth to her.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/feeleverystory.online\/?p=14145\">Click here to continue reading: PART 26: Laura\u2019s Hidden Commission Revealed Why Bridget Had Been Pushed Toward My House, but Bridget\u2019s Next Admission Rewrote Their Entire Sisterhood<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I did not call Rosalind immediately.
