Hers doesn&#39;t close.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There it was.<\/p>\n<p>The instruction.<\/p>\n<p>The natural handwriting on the sheet might not have been Caroline&#39;s because she had spoken the instruction.<\/p>\n<p>Someone else wrote it down.<\/p>\n<p>Bridget.<\/p>\n<p>Gregory.<\/p>\n<p>Martin.<\/p>\n<p>We still did not know.<\/p>\n<p>But Caroline had been guiding the imitation.<\/p>\n<p>Her claim that Gregory acted beyond her instructions had just collapsed.<\/p>\n<p>The recording continued.<\/p>\n<p>Gregory said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBetter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am leaving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Caroline:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen leave.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo not use that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gregory laughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you think we&#39;re doing here, Martin?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Silence.<\/p>\n<p>Then a chair scraped.<\/p>\n<p>A door closed.<\/p>\n<p>Martin left.<\/p>\n<p>Caroline asked Bridget for another genuine signature sample.<\/p>\n<p>Bridget said she could get one.<\/p>\n<p>Caroline replied:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGet several.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My hands shook.<\/p>\n<p>Not with fear.<\/p>\n<p>With clarity.<\/p>\n<p>Caroline had sat across from me days earlier and admitted knowing I resisted.<\/p>\n<p>She had apologized for discounting my objections.<\/p>\n<p>But she had still lied about the central act.<\/p>\n<p>She had not merely financed the machine.<\/p>\n<p>She had supervised the preparation of my forged signature.<\/p>\n<p>Priya stopped the recording.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlay it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gregory asked Caroline whether they should have Dana assemble the final document.<\/p>\n<p>Caroline said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo. Dana asks questions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gregory:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe&#39;ll file it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Caroline:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFiling isn&#39;t the same as creating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Again.<\/p>\n<p>Separation.<\/p>\n<p>Give each person one act.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody holds the whole crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho created it?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p>Priya resumed.<\/p>\n<p>Bridget said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can scan the samples.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gregory answered:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#39;ll handle the signature page.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There.<\/p>\n<p>Finally.<\/p>\n<p>Gregory created the final page.<\/p>\n<p>Caroline coached.<\/p>\n<p>Martin demonstrated.<\/p>\n<p>Bridget supplied samples.<\/p>\n<p>Dana filed it.<\/p>\n<p>Five people.<\/p>\n<p>Each could claim they had not forged my signature.<\/p>\n<p>And in the narrowest possible sense, four of them might be right.<\/p>\n<p>That was how the machine worked.<\/p>\n<p>No single hand carried the whole weight.<\/p>\n<p>My phone rang.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Hale answered before I could.<\/p>\n<p>He listened.<\/p>\n<p>Then looked at us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGregory surrendered this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curtis exhaled.<\/p>\n<p>I waited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is another development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCaroline?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her attorney had withdrawn from representing her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe cited a conflict created by newly disclosed evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat happens now?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe&#39;ll obtain new counsel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at the paused audio waveform on Priya&#39;s screen.<\/p>\n<p>Caroline&#39;s voice frozen in blue lines.<\/p>\n<p>Try the E again.<\/p>\n<p>For weeks, I had wondered who had physically forged my name.<\/p>\n<p>The answer turned out to be less important than I expected.<\/p>\n<p>Gregory&#39;s hand might have assembled the final signature.<\/p>\n<p>But everyone in that room had contributed something.<\/p>\n<p>Knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Samples.<\/p>\n<p>Technique.<\/p>\n<p>Silence.<\/p>\n<p>Money.<\/p>\n<p>Access.<\/p>\n<p>A crime can have many hands even when only one holds the pen.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/feeleverystory.online\/?p=14134\">Click here to continue reading: PART 24: Gregory Finally Told Investigators Why My House Was Chosen, and His Answer Exposed the One Person Bridget Had Been Protecting From the Start<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Curtis did not speak for nearly a minute after I told him.
