vehicle in a concealed carport.<\/p>\n<p>Registered to Theodore Blake.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Bell\u2019s false identity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo not approach yet,\u201d Ortiz said into the radio.<\/p>\n<p>Teams established containment.<\/p>\n<p>Thermal imaging showed one person inside.<\/p>\n<p>Then two.<\/p>\n<p>Then three.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho else?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo identities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At 4:17, a fourth heat signature appeared from the basement.<\/p>\n<p>Someone had been below ground.<\/p>\n<p>The tactical team prepared to enter.<\/p>\n<p>Then Chloe\u2019s phone rang.<\/p>\n<p>Unknown number.<\/p>\n<p>She was at my house with Nina and two agents.<\/p>\n<p>She answered on speaker under instruction.<\/p>\n<p>A man spoke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChloe?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Bell.<\/p>\n<p>Her face went pale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t know me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know who?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A sound in the background.<\/p>\n<p>Door.<\/p>\n<p>Movement.<\/p>\n<p>Bell lowered his voice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClaire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chloe looked at Ortiz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause Victor told her to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Victor had said Claire did not touch the car.<\/p>\n<p>Claire denied it.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus blamed it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInsurance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere is the video?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the coastal house?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Silence.<\/p>\n<p>That confirmed enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you want?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSafe passage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ortiz shook her head.<\/p>\n<p>Chloe continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou tried to have my mother shot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour fingerprint was on the rifle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI handled that rifle years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConvenient.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t fire at Samuel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho did?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cElliot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was in custody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot then.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was right.<\/p>\n<p>The greenhouse attack occurred before Elliot\u2019s later apprehension timeline was fully secured.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan you prove that too?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen surrender.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bell laughed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou think federal custody is safe?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSafer than wherever you are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat are you afraid of?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His answer came without hesitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMartha.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martha Keene.<\/p>\n<p>Missing.<\/p>\n<p>My former supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat about her?\u201d Chloe asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s in the house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ortiz looked sharply toward the tactical radio.<\/p>\n<p>One of the additional heat signatures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVoluntarily?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bell did not answer.<\/p>\n<p>Then a woman\u2019s voice came faintly through the phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThomas, hang up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martha.<\/p>\n<p>Alive.<\/p>\n<p>There.<\/p>\n<p>Bell whispered, \u201cShe brought someone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThomas?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The line stayed open.<\/p>\n<p>Footsteps.<\/p>\n<p>Martha speaking farther away.<\/p>\n<p>Then a man\u2019s voice.<\/p>\n<p>I knew it.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel.<\/p>\n<p>Chloe stared at me.<\/p>\n<p>Impossible.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel was supposed to be in federal protective custody.<\/p>\n<p>Ortiz\u2019s face changed.<\/p>\n<p>She was already calling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConfirm Dalton location.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The answer came seconds later.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel was gone.<\/p>\n<p>Transferred two hours earlier for a medical examination after reporting chest pain.<\/p>\n<p>Transport vehicle reached the clinic.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel did not.<\/p>\n<p>One agent injured.<\/p>\n<p>No public alert yet.<\/p>\n<p>Inside Bell\u2019s phone connection, Samuel said clearly:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe end this tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bell answered, \u201cNot until Eleanor knows what you did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then the line disconnected.<\/p>\n<p>Four people were now believed to be inside the coastal Redshore house.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Bell.<\/p>\n<p>Martha Keene.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Dalton.<\/p>\n<p>And one still-unidentified person below ground.<\/p>\n<p>Every major surviving witness from the original conspiracy had somehow converged in one place.<\/p>\n<p>That was not coincidence.<\/p>\n<p>It was a reckoning someone had arranged.<\/p>\n<p>And before agents could
