Ask LB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLB is Laura,\u201d Daniel said.<\/p>\n<p>Laura frowned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never saw this note.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does CBM mean?\u201d Jessica asked.<\/p>\n<p>My initials.<\/p>\n<p>Claire Bennett Mercer.<\/p>\n<p>I pointed at the screen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe thought the beneficiary structure was changed without me understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel searched the files.<\/p>\n<p>An insurance assignment document appeared.<\/p>\n<p>Then a later amendment.<\/p>\n<p>On the second amendment, my signature was present.<\/p>\n<p>I leaned closer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat isn\u2019t mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Everyone froze.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre you certain?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTake your time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t need time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The signature resembled mine.<\/p>\n<p>The loops.<\/p>\n<p>The angle.<\/p>\n<p>The long tail on the M.<\/p>\n<p>But I knew how I signed legal documents.<\/p>\n<p>My middle initial was always smaller than that.<\/p>\n<p>And I never connected the r to the c in Mercer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is not my signature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel magnified the image.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica\u2019s voice hardened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen we have a much bigger problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Laura went pale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho prepared the amendment?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel scrolled.<\/p>\n<p>The document had been transmitted through Mercer Development.<\/p>\n<p>Authorized by David.<\/p>\n<p>Witnessed by someone whose name I did not recognize.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica stood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need an independent handwriting examiner and the insurer\u2019s original records.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My hands shook.<\/p>\n<p>David\u2019s recorded voice replayed in my mind.<\/p>\n<p>She signed insurance documents.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe he believed I had.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe he knew I had not.<\/p>\n<p>I could no longer tell which possibility frightened me more.<\/p>\n<p>Then Daniel clicked the metadata attached to Mason\u2019s scan.<\/p>\n<p>The document had not come from Mercer.<\/p>\n<p>It had come from another source.<\/p>\n<p>A folder labeled RV.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Voss.<\/p>\n<p>And beneath Mason\u2019s note was one final sentence:<\/p>\n<p>If Claire\u2019s signature is false, David may not know who changed the policy.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/feeleverystory.online\/?p=13764\">Click here to continue reading: PART 8: I Confronted David With the Forged Signature, and His Reaction Revealed Someone Had Been Controlling More Than Our Finances<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We did not plug Laura\u2019s flash drive into either of our computers.
