Where are you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll send an address.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy would I come?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause in forty-eight hours, Halcyon Ridge either reveals its owners or disappears again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd there is one owner you need to see before that happens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin exhaled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe person who added TARGET APPROVED beside Mercer Holdings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I looked at Evelyn.<\/p>\n<p>She shook her head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho is it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou will not believe me over the phone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMartin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCome to the address.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith police?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you bring police, Adrian leaves with the records.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou expect me to trust you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That answer sounded almost like my father.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI expect you to bring Clara.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clara stepped toward the phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I turned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbsolutely not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She ignored me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin answered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause Thomas left the final authority to you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat authority?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo decide whether the network is exposed completely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Evelyn whispered, \u201cThat\u2019s impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin heard her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, Evelyn. It isn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His voice changed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou were never the last trustee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She looked genuinely shaken.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho was?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin did not answer her.<\/p>\n<p>He addressed Clara.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThomas knew Liam might choose his company over the truth if the cost became high enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I bristled.<\/p>\n<p>Clara did not.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd he knew Evelyn would choose the family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Evelyn looked away.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJulian would choose whichever person he feared losing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Julian flinched.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDaniel would choose revenge if he could call it justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel said nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Then Martin spoke the sentence my father had apparently built everything around.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Clara would choose evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her face changed.<\/p>\n<p>Martin continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThomas made you the final trustee of the Kitchen Table Trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clara shook her head.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never signed anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou didn\u2019t have to. The appointment activated upon his death if specific conditions were met.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat conditions?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMercer Holdings being targeted and Liam refusing the first Halcyon conversion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I thought of my unsigned Southshore agreement.<\/p>\n<p>My refusal had triggered more than I knew.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does Clara control?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n<p>Martin answered quietly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything Thomas collected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe archive?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe complete archive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel stepped closer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou said it was wiped.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe copy was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere is the original?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin ignored him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCome to the address.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The line disconnected.<\/p>\n<p>Seconds later, a message appeared.<\/p>\n<p>An address outside Charlotte.<\/p>\n<p>Clara recognized it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo do I,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her expression was unreadable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the storage building where your father kept Mercer Holdings\u2019 first records.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I remembered it.<\/p>\n<p>A narrow brick warehouse rented before we could afford real office space.<\/p>\n<p>My father had insisted I keep paper copies of every early contract there.<\/p>\n<p>I had not visited in a decade.<\/p>\n<p>Clara looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKitchen table.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The password.<\/p>\n<p>The trust.<\/p>\n<p>The warehouse.<\/p>\n<p>My father had been leaving a path through the oldest pieces of our life.<\/p>\n<p>I looked toward the NICU.<\/p>\n<p>Our son slept behind glass, unaware that his birth had activated a mechanism designed before he existed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not leaving him unprotected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe won\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClara, you just gave birth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd apparently your dead father made me trustee of a secret archive capable of exposing a twenty-five-year financial network.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite everything, I almost smiled.<\/p>\n<p>She raised an eyebrow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSay it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was thinking my father really did know you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her expression softened for half a second.<\/p>\n<p>Then the hospital lights flickered.<\/p>\n<p>Once.<\/p>\n<p>Twice.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel turned toward the corridor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The emergency system activated.<\/p>\n<p>An alarm began somewhere below us.<\/p>\n<p>Ruiz\u2019s radio erupted with voices.<\/p>\n<p>Smoke detected in a utility area.<\/p>\n<p>Security breach on the loading dock.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel ran toward the forensic room.<\/p>\n<p>I knew before he returned.<\/p>\n<p>The storage device recovered from behind the NICU maintenance panel was gone.<\/p>\n<p>Someone had used the emergency to take it.<\/p>\n<p>Ruiz demanded lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>Clara looked through the NICU window.<\/p>\n<p>Our son\u2019s monitors remained steady.<\/p>\n<p>Then my phone received one final message.<\/p>\n<p>A photograph.<\/p>\n<p>Taken seconds earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Clara and me standing outside the NICU.<\/p>\n<p>Photographed from behind.<\/p>\n<p>Someone was still inside the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Underneath it were six words.<\/p>\n<p>FORTY-EIGHT HOURS JUST BECAME TWELVE.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/feeleverystory.online\/?p=13624\">Click here to continue reading: PART 13: The Hospital Lockdown Trapped Us With Whoever Stole the Device, and One Security Badge Led Back to My Father\u2019s Warehouse<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Daniel ordered Rachel not to open the shareholder filing on any device connected to Mercer Holdings.
