said something near him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHold on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I waited.<\/p>\n<p>His voice returned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSarah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat happened?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey found an attempted deletion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf what?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Harrison correspondence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My pulse jumped.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan they recover it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho tried?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvan\u2019s account.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I sat down.<\/p>\n<p>Dad continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecurity is with him now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does that mean?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt means he isn\u2019t leaving with his laptop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mom had been right about one thing.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus\u2019s life was about to change.<\/p>\n<p>But not because we were ruining him.<\/p>\n<p>Because people outside our family were finally looking at the same records.<\/p>\n<p>Dad lowered his voice further.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarianne found an email Evan sent last night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo Marcus?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does it say?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dad read it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour family knows too much. Monday is dead.
