We need something that lets us compare.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Voss canceled the full copy and selected two files.<\/p>\n<p>The oldest.<\/p>\n<p>The newest.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer started.<\/p>\n<p>Forty percent.<\/p>\n<p>Sixty.<\/p>\n<p>The security alarm grew louder.<\/p>\n<p>Footsteps echoed outside.<\/p>\n<p>Not one person.<\/p>\n<p>Several.<\/p>\n<p>The progress bar reached ninety-seven.<\/p>\n<p>The door handle moved.<\/p>\n<p>Voss pulled the drive the instant the transfer completed.<\/p>\n<p>The screen went black.<\/p>\n<p>The archive was gone.<\/p>\n<p>The door opened.<\/p>\n<p>Four Sterling security officers entered.<\/p>\n<p>Behind them stood Daniel.<\/p>\n<p>His face was pale with anger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou had no authority to come here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I held the encrypted drive in my hand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeither did whoever just erased the archive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel\u2019s eyes dropped to the drive.<\/p>\n<p>For a moment, nobody moved.<\/p>\n<p>Then he said quietly, \u201cGive that to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richard\u2019s warning came back.<\/p>\n<p>Do not hand the original to Sterling.<\/p>\n<p>I closed my fingers around the drive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel looked at me.<\/p>\n<p>Not angry now.<\/p>\n<p>Afraid.<\/p>\n<p>That frightened me more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChloe,\u201d he said, \u201cyou don\u2019t understand what you may have copied.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen explain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His eyes shifted toward Voss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo. Not in front of him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Voss laughed under his breath.<\/p>\n<p>I took one step backward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo more separate versions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel lowered his voice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe newest Annex contains a beneficial owner none of us expected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He did not answer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDaniel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His gaze returned to the drive.<\/p>\n<p>Then he said, \u201cYou.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For a moment, I thought I had misheard him.<\/p>\n<p>The servers hummed behind us.<\/p>\n<p>Voss went completely still.<\/p>\n<p>I looked at Daniel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat did you say?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the Annex version my team recovered last night, one of Titan\u2019s central holding entities is registered to a trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My mouth went dry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat trust?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daniel\u2019s expression tightened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Chloe Bennett Family Trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I stared at him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t have a trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The meaning arrived slowly.<\/p>\n<p>Someone had not only put my work inside the deal.<\/p>\n<p>They had put my name inside the ownership structure.<\/p>\n<p>And if the file in my hand was real, the next question was no longer whether someone intended to frame me.<\/p>\n<p>It was how long they had been preparing to do it.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/feeleverystory.online\/?p=10081\">Click here to continue reading: PART 9: The Trust Bearing My Name Had Been Created Years Before Titan, and Its First Transaction Pointed Back to My Mother<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leonard Voss did not move.
